Sunday Sep 03, 2023
A sermon from Matthew 18:7-9
The root of temptation
The response to temptation
Gospel Connection
Genesis 3 introduced sin to the world and all mankind. The sin of Adam plunged all humanity into sin. Each human being is born into "original sin." Therefore, "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). All sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:2) and leads to death, "for the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Jesus is the only way to a relationship with God and an eternity with him in Heaven (John 14:6). That relationship is established by grace through faith, which is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8-9). Will you accept it?
Application
What intentional actions will you implement into your life this week to keep you from the stumbling blocks leading to sin?
Prayer
As I live each day I ask, Holy Spirit, for You to remind me of Biblical truth and the power of Jesus in me to choose obedience to You, my God.
