Jesus came for those who know they have a spiritual need. While the Gospel is for all people, not all people will receive it because they do not see a need for it. Jesus spent more time around those who would never be accused of being religious. Jesus’ life and ministry is a model for us in how and with whom we are to share the Good News.
Who do you “eat” with that religious people would find offensive? Who do you need to be “eating” with, those God is placing in your life and giving you opportunity to share your life, the Gospel and Biblical truth with? When will you begin “eating” with them?

Jesus sometimes used parables and illustrations to teach about his purpose and mission on earth. But in this passage today, He boldly proclaims why He was sent from Heaven: to forgive sins. Jesus is the only one who can provide forgiveness of sins. Only by receiving the free gift of salvation that was provided through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus can anyone be assured of eternal life.

Jesus demonstrated His power and authority over disease, illness, nature and demons while ministering on this earth in His life. In His death followed by His resurrection, Jesus demonstrated His power and authority over sin. Jesus came to restore our relationship with God, our Creator; the relationship sin had destroyed. His authority over sin gives us new life when we repent and believe (two sides of the same coin) in Jesus as the Way, the Truth and the Life.

There is nothing we face in life that is not subject to the power, authority and control of our Savior Jesus Christ. His authority is greater than any natural weather event, difficult situation we encounter and struggle we endure. Having defeated sin and death by His resurrection, Jesus lives to provide peace in the midst of the storms of our life when we humbly submit to, and call on Him.

Jesus came to radically transform our lives, priorities, goals and pursuits. As such, Jesus did that in a radical way: He died on the cross as the once-for-all sacrifice for sin. Jesus’ death on the cross was the satisfactory payment of God’s wrath (propitiation-1 John 2:2) against sin and sinful humanity. As a result, He who gave everything for us, desires us to give everything to Him.

The power of Jesus was plain to see for all people as Jesus healed the centurion's servant, Peter's mother-in-law, and the many who were sick and oppressed by demons. The power of Jesus is plain to see for all people in His sacrificial death on the cross, burial and resurrection from the dead. As Jesus came out of the grave, the ultimate and final defeat of the devil was complete. Jesus came to heal our relationship with God our Creator which was ruined by sin.

From Matthew 7:28-8:4
Matthew records that Jesus was teaching them as one who had authority.
In every aspect and element of life there is some type of authority. Both the physical and spiritual life are governed by authority, a power greater than humanity.
That authority comes from God, is revealed and confirmed in Jesus Christ, God's Son, who lived, taught, suffered, died and rose from the dead as the sacrifice for sins, once for all.

There are two kinds of foundations to build a house on: solid ground (rock) or shifting sand. One house will last; the other will be destroyed.
There are two foundations to build your life on: Jesus or self. Jesus is the embodiment of the love, grace, and mercy of God which was demonstrated in Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.
Jesus is the rock upon which one can build their life experiencing purpose and peace.
